About Me
Katia Karloff is a graduate of Art Center College of Design. Karloff has been creating art since an early age. She is an avid drawer who draws everything around her – animals, nature, and all that comes from her vivid imagination.
When Karloff lived in Oregon, she used to climb inside of maple trees to take out the brittle wood that the insects would eat. She would take them home to create sculpture pieces. To incorporate the human figure into her sculptures, she began to draw her sculpture objects onto large paper formats using charcoal as her medium. Shortly thereafter, she changed to acrylic paintings on canvas as her preferred support.
Karloff’s surreal world is ever moving and alive. She invites viewers to have an emotional experience with her work, and whatever else comes to their hearts when seeing her work for the very first time. Karloff wants the viewer to see the connection between our selves and the earth that we live on and live with. Equally important for Karloff is for the viewer to understand the interdependence between this precious planet and how much we need it for our future. We can’t live without the planet, but it certainly can live without us.
Karloff’s work tries to show where we come from and that is the earth.
